Accidental Cannibalism? - Butcher & Blackbird Book Review

Hey, bookworms!

Get ready to embark on a journey into the unexpected with Brynne Weaver's latest release, Butcher & Blackbird !

Dedication: "For those of you who read the trigger warnings and said, 'Accidental cannibalism?! Count me in!' This one’s for you."

Accidental Cannibalism? Yep, you heard me right. Buckle up because this review is going to be a wild ride filled with twists, turns, and a whole lot of excitement. First, I know that this is NOT everyone’s cup of tea. I mean, I read the same section (yes, the ice cream section - IYKYK) out loud to my two cousins in Edmonton, while one said, "Woah, this book sounds really good," the other one said, "Oh my god, how can you read s**t like that?" So I get it. If you are not into serial killers, serial killers killing serial killers, a wildly slow burn with so much sexual tension, a semi-predictable love story that constantly had you slightly squirming in your seat - then this is NOT the book for you!

Now, let's dive straight into the heart of the story as it follows the unconventional romance between Sloane and Rowan, two notorious serial killers who organize an annual murder competition. Yes, you read that right. This isn't your typical love story, but it's one that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.

Let's talk about the romance - it offers a slow-burn love story that spans over several years. What sets it apart is the genuine friendship and mutual respect between Sloane and Rowan. Their relationship isn't just about physical attraction; it's about trust, understanding, and acceptance - and when I say it is a slow burn, it is very SLOW!

From Rowan's unexpected acts of affection to their hilarious banter, there are plenty of memorable moments to savor in this book. And let's not forget about the accidental cannibalism subplot, which adds a humorous twist to the story and keeps readers entertained.

““I had to dig human ass out of your mouth.” Sloane says to Rowan

Rowan Kane, the enigmatic Scottish chef with a penchant for murder, steals the show with his charm and madness. The audiobook, voiced by the talented Joe Arden, showcases Rowan as equal parts charming and insane, making him utterly irresistible.

"Do you really think I just like you when I framed a drawing you left for me on a scrap of paper you tore from a notebook? The one I hung it in the kitchen so I can look at it every day and think of you? Do you think I just like you when I tattoo it on my skin?"

Then there's Sloane, the witty and cunning counterpart to Rowan's madness. Together, they form a dynamic duo that you won't soon forget.

"Boobs plus murder don’t equal a relationship, Lark. That math ain’t mathin’."

So, what did I think of Butcher & Blackbird? In short, I absolutely FREAKING loved it.

Despite my initial skepticism, I found myself completely engrossed in the dark and delightful world that Brynne Weaver has created. It's a rollercoaster of emotions that will leave you craving more. I would say that this is a must-read for anyone looking for a thrilling and unconventional love story. Brynne Weaver has crafted a masterpiece that defies expectations and leaves a lasting impression.

So, what are you waiting for? READ THIS BOOK!

xoxo
