Book Review - The Saviours Part One and Part Two By Ames Mills

“The Saviours” Duet By Ames Mills

Alright - book review time. Full transparency, I was drawn to this duet solely by its cover. It was a mood selection and I’m not sure it paid off. I decided to give it a fair shot since I’ve never read anything by Ames before. Overall, it was an okay read, but it didn’t totally blow me away.

Let’s start with the good stuff. Ames knows how to write some seriously steamy scenes. Like, they definitely got my heart racing a few times. And I gotta admit, the first part of the duet had me hooked with that intense cliffhanger. I just had to know what happened next.

But then, things kinda fizzled out in Part Two.

Once the characters were saved and healed, the story lost its momentum and got a bit slow for my taste. Plus, the whole polyamorous thing with multiple guys and one girl felt a bit overdone. Especially when we now have three other groups of people helping them who are all also in their own polyamourous relationships. I mean it’s basically 4 girls and 20 guys in one house ( not all intermingled - get your head out of the gutter)

I couldn’t help but feel like there were missed opportunities for deeper character development. Like, Brady and Amber’s storylines could’ve been fleshed out more. And speaking of characters, I found it hard to believe how quickly they all fell in love and forgave each other. It just seemed a bit too easy, you know?

And don’t even get me started on the pet names. Cupcake? Dragonfly? Ladybug? Seriously? It was a bit much for me, and some of them were just plain cringeworthy. I mean Big Daddy, Naughty Boy, King Kong Dong - these names are making me cringe.

It had its moments, but it didn’t quite hit the mark for me. If you’re into spicy romance and can overlook a few clichés, you might enjoy it. But if you’re looking for something with more depth and originality, you might want to pass on this one.
